Happy Bird-day

No it's not national bird day :)

It's the birthday of Julia aka @mimizukupapeterie (blog: pieces for happiness) and Mimizuku is the latin nomenclature for a sweet little owl known as the scoops owl or eagle owl :D

So I made her a birthday card with a cute little owl by Averyelle and did a little change to the greeting ;)

For the background I used my watercolors to create a pinkish base then I used the gold color from gansai tambi and spritzed some golden droplets on the dried background. I also painted the die cut feathers with browns and highlighted some parts with the gold.

For even more structure I used a stencil and some embossing paste on the background. The sentiment is stamped onto vellum and kraft cardstock.

Have a beautiful sunday
see you soon

Skating by to decorate the tree

Time to get some christmas cards done ;) I'm always starting to late and this time I am trying to start early and send them in early december too :D

Some huge help this year is the 6th coloring challenge hosted by Kathy Racoosin over at Instagram, started November 1st. It's a coloring challenge and it's about taking a few minutes each day to color some of your favorite stamps or coloring pages/ books. You don't have to color every day but it's so much fun I've been doing this challenge everytime since the first challenge and I always had such a great time and met some wonderful crafters, some of them even become friends in real life.

I always enjoy this creative me-time and on top it gives me a lot of colored images ready to make a card with. Today is day five - and by the way it is not to late to join in - and I break in my penguin stamps I got a while ago. Since the penguin isn't a lot to color I try to make a quick card.

I colored the penguin with copic markers, got him a little santa hat and a christmas bauble and he's ready to decorate the tree - swooooosh

For the background I lightly blended on some blue Distress Ink and stamped some snowflakes in aqua and platinum.

I mounted the background onto a white cardbase on which I blended the edges lightly with the same blue Distress Ink.

Have a n-ice day :D
see you soon

snowflakes from various Lawn Fawn stamp sets

Peek-a-boo to Someone new

This my first baby card  ever ;)
Technically it's for a baby shower party and the mum to be is announcing the gender of the baby on said party. So I wrecked my brain how I could make a neutral baby card or a card that include both boy and girl elements......

I came up with a spinning wheel card and I used both typical baby colors: light blue and pink :)

The first sentiment you can read in the circle window is "Hello Baby"

The soft embossed quilted look the embossing folder made looks like a fluffy baby blanket to me.

If you turn the wheel you can read the second sentiment which says "Boy or Girl"

And then there are these cute doggies by Mama Elephant - one is blue......

.....and one is pink - of course.

Have a nice Sunday
see you soon

materials I used:

paper: Imagine MixMedia by Canson, bristol cardstock by exacompta, vellum

Inks: (copic coloring) Memento tuxedo black, (stamping sentiments) VersaFine onyx black, (stamping on vellum) StazOn jet black, (baby blue) VersaMagic sea breeze all by Tsukineko; (baby pink) Shadow Ink bubblegum by Hero Arts

monstermäßig gestreift - a birthday-monster card

Heute hat die liebe Wiebke (buntebastelecke) Geburtstag. Zu ihrem Ehrentag habe ich ihr eine monstermäßige Geburtstagskarte gebastelt.

Today is the birthday of lovely Wiebke (buntebastelecke). For her special day I made this monster birthday card.

Für den Hintergrund habe ich mit Klebeband diagonale Streifen abgeklebt und habe anschließend mit verschiedenen Distress Inks in Pink- und Rottönen drüber gewischt.
For the background I mask of some diagonal stripes with low-tacky painters tape on watercolor paper. Then I blended on some Distress Inks in various shades of pink and red.

Wie süß ist bitte diese kleine Monsterchen wie es da mit dem Stift schreibt? Coloriert hab ich es mit Copic Markern.
How cute is this little monster writing with its pencil? I colored it with copic markers.

The whole design of the card is inspired by the writing monster, so I scribble a border with a fineliner around the background and even scribbled on the "happy" script die cut word to match the overall design.

Have a sweet day
